This slightly scary "old backwoods healer" with wild hair and eyes lingers outside the general store, spouting cryptic, religious-themed lessons to Christine. Later, Obeah gets more explicit with his/her predictions, prophecies and visions. He or she
provides Christine and Trey with brief refuge from the hunters, and tells Christine that her pain attracts further pain like a magnet; the only way to break free from the cycle and save her own life is to let go of her long-standing rage and fear. It seems that Obeah knows exactly what happened to Christine when she was 10.
