SPEAKS HINDI and is Indian. He is trying to raise his 15-year-old son Krishna and 13-year-old daughter Aashi in America just after his wife's passing. He is strict and traditional. All together, they run a motel near Disneyland where they meagerly survive from week to week.

Krishna works in his father's motel near Disneyland, but has bever been to the magical location because of his obligation to his family and culture. When Allie comes and stays at the motel with her family, questions of assimilation, maturity associated with adulthood, and happiness are all addressed.

Slumdog Millionaire (in terms of the main character's struggle in depressingly bleak circumstances) meets Lost In Translation (two characters from different worlds meeting and having a moment of understand).
