[NOPPERA-BO] Male, 30?s (or older)? A Japanese Yakuza whose intense eyes reveal his inner strength. His exterior stillness and menacing aura threaten those around him. This quiet storm is always in control? LEAD


The play centers on the story of an American businessman whose life inexplicably begins to mirror a series of Japanese ghost stories. Entangled in an adulterous affair that he cannot escape, he meets a mysterious figure (Noppera-Bo) that seems to hold all the answers. But when his wife turns up dead, his entire world collapses into a nightmare.

Temporary Distortion was formed in 2002 and has a reputation for pushing the boundaries of theater by staging plays in claustrophobic boxlike structures, with little physical movement and a unique restrained style of acting. Recently this work has included an expanded use of video and has evolved into a type of film/theater hybrid.
